Apparently I stumbled onto a great little situation two days ago. Puzzling early site... doesn't seem to be a home site. No brick, glass, nails, bean pot, spoons or any other house hold items.

Just three small divots, about 100 ft apart from each other. I did find three identical large tombac buttons today and three more coppers. That is a total of five from this site, and four of them are very nice! Check out the left facing Ct copper... research needed for sure, and it has highly rotated reverse that is very offset... the KG 2 is just insane, and the New Jersey has a real nice reverse. I will post a video soon... may want to conserve these coppers first...

I have found a site like what you described. I think it was camp site? Maybe where they camped as they built the home? Or maybe a logging camp. Your coppers are in great shape. Congrats

Great site you found there. With that many coppers there's gotta be an old silver hiding there. Good luck and I hope you get some more goodies out of there.

Ya this one is puzzling... three small divots, of which any could have be a home site... I have seen many like this in the past. All the coppers were found around the divots, four of them off the one in the middle. (They are in a line). Its a big area with one large stone wall, and field stone walls which makes the entire space probably about five acres. My original plan yesterday was to try to locate the main homesite, but came up with nothing. Very few signals five coppers and three identical tombacs.... makes me wonder if some dude met his end there and had those coins in his pockets..... The finds also seem to all be in a "line" I do think logging may have been involved. I found piece of saw blade and file, everything else was either a coin or button

I agree... but unfortunate it is a huge briar patch, and on top that it was clear cut and all the brush piles are still there. I worked my butt off for those coins! What is needed is a good forest fire... lol But I am very happy. It was just a nice southern exposed spot that was free of snow, and I just wanted to get out....

Turns out the Ct copper is pretty rare.... R5 https://www.pcgs.com/coinfacts/coin/1786-ct-1-2p-draped-bust-left-m-6-k-bn/686368 Here is the thing check the reverse is about 90 degrees out of rotation and way offset. The date is clipped in half, and it looks like there may be some doubling. Soaking in peroxide over night I will post a video of the hunt, and cleaned up coins later this week.
