Greetings friends! I recently picked up this detector at a garage sale for $3. I'm guessing from the look of it it's a really cheap model, but it was 3 bucks and has to be better than the one I never had before. I know nothing about detecting, not even how to use the two knobs or interpret the meter. I looked up the maker and they have a page to download manuals, but this (model 1015 apparently?) wasn't on the list. I did a little searching for just basic general info, but didn't find anything this basic. Can someone give me some basic advice on getting started with this? I'm not aspiring to become a serious hobbyist, but you never know. I'm a retired engineer and I could stand to get off my old rump more often.

Nice score. For $3 you can't beat it. Set the power and "eliminator" to about halfway and swing it. Adjust from there. (I'm assuming the power is the sensitivity and the eliminator is the discrimination, CMIW)

Thanks! It's for 6-7 year olds, that's funny. Good enough to just have around though. I thought it odd there's no forearm rest, only because others I've seen have them, but this thing weighs almost nothing. Thanks again.
