I got a new mixed breed dog for Father`s day, i had to have my old one put down a couple of weeks ago ,after a animal attack. While the new dog is great and loves to dig (could come in handy). He can never replace the old one,but there is always room for a new friend and hunting partner. And since hr comes from a shelter we can help each other out. My wife named him snuggle and he is pretty good company. I`m looking forward to taking him hunting.

may we see the newest member of your family?

Sorry to hear of the passing of your ol friend

I am so glad to hear you got a new buddy from the shelter. I did that too after my pup died. Congrats to you and yall have fun in the field. HH

Sonny.

I have not taken his photo yet, but we think he is part min-pin & ?, he is very loving and sweet he likes to cuddle and sit in laps.He follows my wife every where. We just got him fixed and his shots started, he is about 10lbs now i would like to at least 1 more pound on him , he is a little on the skinny side right now.I`m sure the shelter didn`t over feed them. My daughter goes to collage in Arkansas and found him in the shelter there we drove down 5 hours to pick him up and visit her.My wife has named him Snuggle , hopefully i do not have to yell that out the door.

Just a update on Snuggle has to be close to 15 years old now they think he was about 3 when we rescued him, not as fast now days and sleeps a lot but still likes to go detecting and riding in my truck and a walk every morning. Have him on supplements to help his joints , has some issues . but when he does i just put him in a wagon and pull him around for his daily walk. https://scontent-ord5-2.xx.fbcdn.ne...Yw6SQVpHPsIYEMHz8rK5TujFa9eQoRiKg&oe=641D9789 lots of gray Wiskers now but who don't.

Wow, when I first saw the thread title and started reading your first post I was saddened thinking you were talking about Snuggle getting attacked, then I realized this thread was started back in 2011 before I even joined the forum.

It was still very sad to read about your previous dog, but I am very glad Snuggle is okay !

I can definitely relate how much a part of the family a dog can be, our dog Xena is considered family too !

I had a Corgi that detected with me for 10 years or more. Had to put her down. I've got 2 dogs now but none that I ever take detecting.

Probably should off led out with Snuggles doing fine , was looking at some of my old post and saw that i had started one on him when i got him and how the years have passed by for both of us. He still likes to go detecting with me and will usually sit patently waiting for me to move to another area . I take him anytime i can some area not practical. or allowed. He moves a bit slower now days but thrilled to go anywhere i go and loves road trips. Always make the most of your time together ,feel so lucky to have him in my life and hope to for a good time yet.

I can appreciate all that, my dog can't run super fast like she used to but she is otherwise doing pretty good ! She likes "supervising" me when I'm doing yard work  and I know it makes a real difference just having her around !
