Gold Coins and Silver Dollars

Erik , now that's REAL innovation with the innertube and all !! I got started in the late 7o's and on the rare occasion would find a portion of a site that was virgin territory ( i.e. one ball field on an entire school playground , or one section where a concession stand had been ) ; unbelievable what could be found in even relatively small areas...You must of needed a wheel barrel to cart away your day's finds back in the 60's.. I did find a 1882-S Morgan dollar back in November of last year. Here's a scan:

No gold coins, though. That's still a goal for me.

Holy Morgan!!!!

Thats so Awsome!!! I collect Morgans and have about 20 that are MS63 to MS65 and about 10 or so that are raw AU or better.... I would crap if I found a Morgan out somewhere with a Detector....

I'm just hoping to find some pre 64 Stuff and maybe a ring or two... I can give the rings to my wife to justify the hobby and hopfully get her into it with me...

Gold? :( not yet.
Silver halves and such but no dollars.
Heck, I have two one penny tokens from Canada that are as big a dollars... but as of yet, no silver that big. Nice finds all!

The big pools at the Clinton dam-people used to load them with coins for good luck. Guess who used to dive them?? Also the common in Boylston (?) That big oak tree right across from the post office/police station yielded a leather change purse with 3 large 1800's copper cents and the grass was full of v nickles & shields as well as silver. Probably worth hitting again because back then there were so many good places I mostly cherry picked
