Gold Coins and Silver Dollars

Didn't find a silver dollar but did find a 1760 8 reale. Gold is my goal.

In 26 years digging  I have found 1 silver dollar - 1879. What a thrill ! I had researched an old mining site and found the layout that showed an old school. This source was buried in a book at the special collections of the university, not readily available, but there for anyone who wanted it.
About 1 ft from the front door - cement slab only today - was the coin. You can see the slab in the pic right behind my Fisher 1266 x. Guess no one else had researched the site before. steve in so az

I have once dug a Silver Dollar MD'ing. A 1922 Walking Liberty in a bivouac area on an Army Fort. Way in the boonies too. The area produced nearly a thousand coins for me and my hunting partner as well as buttons a class ring, 4-note harmonica (which still worked) and a few St. Christopher Silver medallions.
Hope to find that gold coin-s one day though, till then I'll settle for the golf rings and jewellry I find in the water and on the beach.
Good Luck and HH.
Keep Swinging.

Roadrunner I found one at an old school yard (closed) and one at an old picnic/beach area also closed now developed with condos. Cladius.

I've found 26 silver half's and not one silver dollar YET!

I have found 2 gold coins. One Mexican 1945 2.5 Peso in our city park and a gold Krugerrand that was part of a heckles.

Geez Erik !..so many Peace dollars...did you find a jar full of silver dollars in the water or dig 'em one at a time ? Roadrunner_426

They are mostly morgans. just the way they are stacked when I was going through the box. One at a time and and alot of time underwater for the most part. About 1/2 dozen came from the ground before I discovered the water.I started out with a D-tex BFO modified to be carried on a innertube and used a long handled aluminum snow shovel that I bent and drilled a bunch of hole to let out the sand and junk. Pretty primitive but it worked and all the sites were pretty much virgin territory in the 60's. Only problem was that I could only go so deep and then I would float when I stepped on the shovel-hence SCUBA

Don't get up there anymore since all the relatives have passed. Now I try to avoid the NE. I tow an Airstream TT when traveling and the traffic up there boggles the mind even as a retired state trooper I can't deal with it. Last time I was up there (and it was a while ago) it took 3 hours to get off the Cape Now when I go North I turn West on I-10!

I hear ya brother. If I could talk Broom hilda (my bride) into moving I would blow this state in a heart beat! I have a 24T Four Winds class C that I could live in for a while untill I found some place I liked. Cladius.
