Getting burned twice in the last year helped me do the right thing.

Had a good friend who is a HVAC tech, who works in Baltimore. He does all of the schools and BWI work. He finished a job last week, took his tools out to the back of his truck, along with his laptop inside the work bag. Then drove off and forgot them.. 6 hours late, he's looking for his bag which he needs the laptop to do some work. He realizes he left it at the school and drove back. Gone..
The next days search, he had the school pull up video.. students, teachers and a few parents walked right past the bag.. No one would touch it.. about 8pm a homeless guy walk past, turns around and takes the bag.. Interesting so many walked past with out messing with the bag. He finally found the bag, in a dumpster a few blocks away. Empty..

I am an HVAC guy. Many years ago I Was working on a kitchen make up air unit left my meter by the controller in the kitchen. I went up on the roof check the unit and came back down and the meter was gone. Only cooks in the kitchen, they were all looking around suspiciously. They knew who stole it. None of them would say a word. Went to the manager told him one of his guys in the kitchen stole my meter. He asked no one said anything. He told me I was out of luck. If I was that manager, I would’ve fired everybody in that kitchen. If they’re stealing that blatantly, they are stealing from him too . Have many other stories of tools getting stolen people suck. The company bought me a new meter and billed them for it. They paid because we would not return if they didn’t.
