Hey all! My names Jimmy and Im a new detectorist :). I have been wanting to metal detect since I was a kid, and have gone through phases over recent years where Im hooked on watching (real) metal detecting videos. Im a Twitch.tv IRL/gaming live streamer and have had the idea to do metal detecting live streams for a couple years now but never pulled the trigger until 2-3 weeks ago. I bought a Nokta Legend and have already done a handful of metal detecting streams. Needless to say Im hooked and my live stream community loves it also!

Ive found some interesting things so far detecting a couple hundred yards from an inn that was built in the 1840s that still stands today. As well as a couple miles down the walking trail im detecting off of, is a site of a Native American tribe that was burned down by an American general in 1744. Nothing however has been as interesting as this that ive found and I have not a clue what they are. I have done lots of research and cant find anything that relates to or looks like what I found.

I assume its lead? But again even that not sure, especially still being a noob detectorist lol. On the day of finding them I kept telling my live stream I thought they were "camp lead" after seeing something about it in a video. However after getting home and researching they dont resemble any camp lead examples I could find. They were ringing up around 35 on my Legend, and a lot of them were in the same plugs. I found all of these in one day most of them within a 3 foot by 3 foot square. And then some were around 10-20 feet away from initial find spot again multiple all came out of the same plug or right next to it. They are all very thin a lot of which having nearly the exact same thickness. Also some as you can see are nearly the exact same shape and size. Also if you look close some even appear to have some sort of mark or line through them, could also be similar marks on some of the backs, I need to inspect them more. Again no idea if the marks are on purpose or just from the process that these came from. They are all very small in general and most seem to have nice rounded edges. The odd jagged piece near the top left is roughly around an inch and half long, half inch wide and weighs 9g and is the biggest and heaviest piece.

So is this something super cool and old?! Or is it just some junk?? I have since found a handful more of them in the same area, and know that theres still more 100%. Theres gotta be some pros here that would have SOME idea better than what ive been able to figure out so far lol. Any and all ideas are welcome :). Thanks for viewing!

I’d say what you probably have is some hot rocks. I don’t think they have anything to do with Native Americans. I see so evidence that they have been worked at all.

Welcome aboard from Michigan. Those almost look like melted metal to me....Perhaps fire pit remains?

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say they appear to be overflow lead from bullet casting. Just a theory of course.

Could it be some version of can-slaw or bloburite? I know that's mainly a campground type find but could there be an older version from inland areas? OP did say there had been a fire or something in the area and lead used to be used MUCH more extensively than it is today... Could these be the lead version of can-slaw?

This was my first thought when I saw the pictures. I'm definitely thinking these are overflow. I've found similar pieces of lead at early sites before, just not that many in a concentrated place.
