Late bloomer this year. Not really, yesterday was only my third time out. My last four hunts were in the same hard hit area of an old park. I hit it in Jan. before the freeze and snow came. All I got was a toasty V nickel, a few wheats and a couple clad coins. Then just last Monday I made it back out. This time I ran into a clad spill of around 1.60 or so. Total clad for the day was 2.33 which is alot for this place. The coolest and deepest (10+) find of the day was an old buckle. Unfortunately I dinged it with my shovel. Then late in the day I headed over to the "path", I've posted about this in previous posts. Its maybe 20-30 ft. long by maybe 4 or 5 ft. wide. It cuts through a row of thickets from a set of woods to a field. And yet again it gave up two old V nickels on the apron to the field side. Unbelievable, Yesterday, although no coins from the path a 50 gave up a nice little sterling ID bracelet.

I knew it was going to be a good day when swinging across a field to get to the area I got a quick smooth one way chirp. Not a repeatable, just a chirp. But the tone had my attention. Played with it, could not get it to repeat. Dug it, swung on it, nothing, started flipping dirt in the hole and thats when I saw a flash of silver. Heck yeah ! First target/coin of the day is also my first silver FTY. A nice looking 1907 Barber dime. There was also a rusty nail I pulled when rechecking. This field hasn't given up a coin in 5 years. Now my second coin of the day was also silver, a 42 Merc. Laying in with it was 3 wheats for a nice little coin spill. The signal was a bit jumpy and there was a bit of iron in the hole. I'm thinking what a start. Ironically this spill was real close to the spot where I dug my first silver, a Merc for 2025. But this year, thanks to the snow I was hunting in matted down high grass that made swinging on it possible. Not far away I picked up another wheat. On the day, 8 in total. I can't remember the last time I dug that many on one hunt. A 77 signal was another Merc and not long after I picked up another one. As I said earlier towards the end of the day I moved on to the path where I dug the bracelet. What a day, and for me a long hunt, over six and a half hours. Still in recovery mode today. Thanks for looking in. Mark The last pic is from a late Dec. hunt from the same area.

Excellent finds, Congrats Mark.
I did the same thing a few months ago, I dug a merc in the path while walking onto soccer field.

Nice job Mark, you were just saying how you had not found your first of the year well you are now off and running. Plus two V nicks...always a good touch. I dig a lot of nickels and to date only have one V nickel and I found it last year. Again very nice!

Good for you Mark, you're on board for 2026!

Thank you Mark. Are you gonna trade one of those Legends for an L2 ? Good luck.
Wow! Congrats Mark. What a great day. I sill have 8" of snow in my yard. Itching to get out.
Appreciate it Charlie, thanks. Hope the melt comes soon. Did you get hit with that last storm ? Good luck
Great job!
That buckle is cool.
Glad you got out. It’s looking the temps are heading in the right direction.
Thank you MDM. I think they call that a batwing buckle. Not used to pulling old relics from this park. Although it opened in the 1890s most finds seem to be from the teens up through the 50s. Conversely the other park I hunt which opened in 1929 I have found relics from the 1800s including a riflemans coat button.
Great job!

Thanks Steve, good luck to you.

Thank you Bull. A wave definitely inspires one to get back out there. Thing is, I know a skunk can't be far off. The 3 Mercs and most of the wheats came from an area I couldn't swing on before. But oh yeah, I'll head back there and look the skunk in the eye. HA HA ! Good luck to you.

Good play-by-play. And I especially like the fresh-reveal "in-situ" shots. Those are the "come to papa" moments :friends:

Very nice results! Just back from detecting with the guys in the Seattle / Tacoma area, glad you were able to get out and pull some good stuff!

Thank you Tom, silver in the hole, silver in the clod never gets old but my favorite is silver on the reveal, pop the plug and there she lays. Makes for a great hunt. Good luck.
Congrats on a great hunt and your first silvers of the year. Best of luck on future hunts.
Thank you History Hound good luck to you.
Nice finds Mark!
Dewayne thanks. Hope the back is feeling a little better. Good luck. Mark
Congrats on a great hunt !! I especially love the Barber! Nice work on following up on the iffy signal.
Thank you sir. Don't normally dig just a chirp. Glad I did. Good luck.

Thanks David. You do get around. I expect we'll see another multi-silver post here shortly.;) Good luck. Mark

Don't you love when those little chirps end up being a good target and especially a super deep silver coin? The Manticore is a beast and keeps opening up spots for me too that I thought were hunted out. Congrats on the finds and the great hunt.
