Bought a 600 couple years ago but have detected little last couple years. Anyone have favorite settings for the Eq. 600 coin shooting? I've only used park 1 with a noise cancel and 0 ground balance. Wonder what's best in the New England soil.

I run mine field 2 . Rec 3. Iron bias 3 or F2 on 3. Sensitivity as high as you can., I set it this way, helps me to avoid digging a lot of iron. I did this when I first got this machine. When I got more experience I ran field 2 Rec 2 iron bias or f2 on zero. Horse shoe button on. I wanted to hear everything. Field 2 is great for coins on edge.

I go back and forth between Park 2 and Field 2 ...auto GB. On iffy signals I try all the single frequencies but have found Multi is almost always the best. Every so often I noise cancel and ground balance. As Diggerjonny mentioned..run the sensitivity as high as you can without chatter. I leave the horseshoe button on and when I get a decent signal I turn it off to get a good idea if its iron or not but I usually dig everything.

Thanks Jose. I've been wondering if there's something a little better than just Park setting. Park is for heavy trash says the quicky manual. My Xterra 705 with the 6" digger coil is the best on trashy areas but it loved twist off bottle caps. Rings them up just like a quarter.

I have a 600, I usually hunted relics in the woods but I've hunted a few parks, also I'm assuming you're coin shooting in parks. Twist off bottle caps always sound great because of their shape not much you can do about that, even in the equinox manual it shows them as High Conductors.

Park 1 & 2 are probably the best modes for just plain coin shooting in parks. You should really try to ground balance if you can find a spot without an signals that way you'll get more accurate ID numbers. And depending on how trashy the parks are you might want to just start out running them at recovery speed 3, if signals a few and far between maybe then turn down the recovery speed to 2.

There's a lot of good info in the manual, read through it some more so you have a better idea how everything works. Also make sure you're on the most recent version of the software which is Version 3.

Great info here! The slower you can set the reactivity speed, the more depth you get. I find if you go any lower than 2 the audio signal drags out too much though.
