Yesterday, I had the Legend out for about an hour in a spot that I have hunted heavily over the past two years. The spot has given up a number of silver coins and other items over that time, including more than 700 clad, but finds these days are very far and few between. I've taken to setting up my Legend with different programs to push its ability to find things that I may have missed in previous hunts. Yesterday, I had the Legend set up in Beach Mode, MD, Recovery 2, IF and Stability at 5, and All Metal, 27 sensitivity. We had a solid day of rain the day prior, so the ground was moist and easy digging. I had picked up a few clad, but nothing notable until 10 minutes before wrapping up for the day. I got to a spot with a scratchy tone with a bouncy VDI from about 43-51, not stable at all. Dug it, and found the 1940s era Sterling Silver Girl Scout Brownie Elf ring about 5 inches down underneath a small tree root. This ring is for sale online, but every one I've looked at is adjustable. It appears to me that someone may have had this ring modified for their child, to make the shank solid. It's tiny but a cool find. Less than 2 minutes later, and literally 2 feet from where I found the Elf ring, I got another choppy, suspect tone at a 45-47 VDI. Dug this one as well, and found the 41 Merc about 5 inches down as well, next to a rusty iron nail, which explains the corrupted sounding tone. That's my 4th silver coin for the year, and my 3rd other silver item for the year. I've been playing around with the Legend lately using Pitch tone with Field Mode and M1-M3, and Beach mode lately, and hitting some spots I've run over many times, and I have to say, I am finding things that I missed in previous visits...could be a combination of soil conditions as well as the Legend setup, as well as me simply not getting a swing over the exact spot, or possibly taking more time to listen...whatever the reason, I have had some renewed luck with Field Mode and Beach mode in previously hit spots. I have been using the LG30 coil about 80% of the time. I have others, including the LG24 which I do like, but unless I am in cramped swinging areas, I really like the coverage I get with the LG30.

Cool ring! Good for you for switching up the program. I never thought of running my Nox on beach mode over dirt! 🤔
I've tried the Beach mode in a bunch of different soil types, and it has given me some really good results. I now use a Beach setup as a regular option for my dirt detecting.

Well done. Love the elf ring a lot, very cool. Congrats on the merc as well. Beach mode Huh, never would have thunked of that. Interesting indeed.

Bam! That is a great find, I think the merc is one of the most beautiful coins ever. Thanks for the insight with the Legend. Learn something every day

Congrats on the Merc and sterling Elf ring. A pair of nice saves for sure. Good luck. Mark
