Did I read an old post about sort of a discover america kind of thing about metal detecting or am I just slipping again. These were maybe 30 minute long videos some were about gold, coins, dredging and sifting you could view or download?? Thanks Ray

I've never heard of that, but it does sound interesting, and is something I would watch :D

Yes I started that thread. They are some cool clips.Do a search for Whites on TV,that was my topic title. It's on here somewhere.I think the show was called Treasure hunting America.

There is a website which lists the programs by title and activates them by link. Unfortunatly the links became inactive sometime early last fall, and the half hour shows would no longer run. I watched a few last summer, and they were entertaining even though the finds were obviously planted.

This is the Whites Treasure Hunting America Site. I just happened to have it saved in my bookmarked file.

We had what could have been a good series featuring metal detecting, on UK TV a couple of years ago. They went around talking to detectorists about some of the finds they'd made.
The downside of the series and what led to detectorists not liking it, was the programme makers concentrating on the money side of the hobby.

The programme even started with the comment "You can make serious money in this hobby". It got such a slating, by detectorists and archaeologists alike, the follow-up series was cancelled. :o(
