Hi all. I'm new to forums so I hope my etiquette is OK. I have minelab sovereign xs2, the only fault I have is the battery cover/slide needs taping on as battery's spring pust against it. I have the blue digisearch. I haven't used it yet & I can't find any numbers online. Has anyone got any readout, I can only find sunray meter.
Are older machines still rated?

General Target Guidelines for 180-Scale Meters (e.g., Digisearch/Sun Ray):
  • 180 (Maximum Value): Stable readings at or near 180 typically indicate solid silver coins, large silver items, or high-conductivity targets.
  • 175–179: Often indicates copper coins, silver, or high-conductivity non-ferrous, sometimes with slight variation if deep.
  • 140–150s: Often represents gold rings, beaver tails, or small non-ferrous jewelry.
  • Low Numbers (Under 100): Typically iron or ferrous items, which should be discriminated out or ignored if the signal is inconsistent.
  • Stability is Key: If the meter locks on a number without bouncing, it is generally a reliable target. If the signal is small and weak but tries to lock, it is worth digging.
Usage Guidelines:
  • Settings: Many users set the Sovereign to Discrimination mode, turn the discrimination knob down to only eliminate iron, and rely on the meter for Target ID.
  • Coil Choice: These meters are frequently used with Tornado or SEF coils to maximize the 180-scale accuracy.
  • Beach/Field: The 180 meters are highly regarded for both beach (wet sand) and field hunting to distinguish junk from valuable finds
