Wow, that is sweet. Will you leave it as is?
These pewter buttons are almost impossible to "clean". Use of water is a definite no no.... this one here seams pretty solid even though the corrosion is bad, but considering it is pewter, it's actually good if that makes sense. I may try to seal with a 50 / 50 solution of water and elmers glue... or I may do nothing at all

Yeah pewter is super delicate, I'd leave it as is personally. That stuff can crumble apart without much persuasion, and you have your ID, so I'd put it in a lucite cup and call it another KILLER relic! Great find 60, seems there was a good amount of revolutionary activity in your area. Unfortunately not much has come up from that time period around these parts. We did find a Rev war era camp in Lancaster, MA. Unfortunately it was a friend's permission, and I only got to hunt it a few times, but my oldest career copper came from that field, a king William 3. Also some Rev war musket balls, an ammo crate plate, and a bunch of other relics, coins. Congrats and keep up the good hunting!

Ever been to the cemetery in Lancaster... dirt road next to a river... very old... I remember seeing a couple of late 1600's head stones there.

You are on a roll with the finds you have been coming up with lately! Unreal congratulations. I would love to find the rev war relics you are finding.

I wouldn't know what to do with something like that, don't have to worry much here in Michigan anyway. I'd be sOooo tempted to clean it I'd feck it up. Great find!
