I had a friend in Springfield, Mo. after telling me that all of his Civil War sites were hunted out, find a cache of 80 pounds of lead that had been hidden to keep it from being captured. This was back in the late 80's.
The ingot was about 8-10 inches down. A 3 ringer was found not 10 feet from it on top of the ground as well as 2 other bullets and 3 buttons on different occasions.
The lay of this land has been the same since at least 1921. I know this because of a photo of the location from said time. Id like to show a picture but.......cant give it away.
Im hoping this is a true CW item. If so...WHOOHOO! If not ...oh well.
Still cant locate pictures of the ingots soldiers used.
