Greetings from Kentucky, once known as the Bluegrass State. We are currently the Browngrass State. I been raiding Tot Lots the last week, chasing kids away with my Alien Gun.. just kidding. I only go when the kids are in bed.. like dark thirty in the morning when the sun comes up.. Either way..

Tot lots are running out. *cry* I have poked around in soccer fields etc, and have to be honest with you. The ground is hard.. very hard, and with this wonderful 90 degree fall we are having and no rain in a month, our clay soil has basically made it rediculous to try and dig in (not to mention the crab grass). Now I know this too shall pass, but man what a pain in the butt.

I still keep my hopes up and have a dream of striking gold, or silver, or anything besides the bottle caps, pull tabs, and foil samples I have found. I have found coins as well, but well.. you know.. I need a "hit" of success to keep me going. I am sooo American.. requiring instant gratification.

Well enough about that. I do have a few comments to make about my recent observations regarding Tot Lots.

Isn't it strange that certain locations have consistant finds? For instance:

Tot Lot #1
This lot was full of many non-coin metal objects Bobby Pins, nails(scarey), bolts, pull tabs, metal cable pieces, and very few coins.

Tot Lot #2
This lot was Coin-o-rama. That was all it had.

Tot Lot #3
Empty. Nothing Nada.. strange. This place creeped me out.. very much. I don't think I will ever go there again. Ever go somewhere and felt an oppressive spirit?? Well that is the place.. nuff said about that.

Tot Lot #4
Coins, pull tabs, bottle caps galore

Tot Lot #5
This lot is on my target list. I scoped it out at lunch today. Large area that has been around a while. It will be mine! LOL

Well enough about tot lots. I still enjoy it, even thought I pull up some bizarre stuff. I visited one today at lunch and this lady was watching me with this "look" on her face. I just ignored her and continued on my way. She looked like she was about to say something when she saw me pull a large rusty nail out of the wood chips. They always have a new look on their face after that. :D

Well that sums my post.

Good hunting!

That sounds like Oklahoma last year, Big Bear. Me, I hit the lakes where there's all KINDS of wetness. ;)

BB - I always show parents a couple dangerous dug things. Even if it didn't come from there :)
I, too, see patterns in each tot lot. Some produce the goods and some dont. We have so many that I can forget the ones that are always clean. Go with what works - sometimes I go to a few special tot lots every 8-10 days and am frequently rewarded with silver or gold. Many people think the beach is the only place to get gold but I have dug 27 solid gole items this year so far - at the tot lots.
Good luck, Steve in so az

I had a few tot lots that I thought of as "clean" too, but then I hit them at the right time and they produce. I think it's because someone else hits the same lots and its a matter of getting there when the other guy (or guys) hasn't for a while.

Dry, Dry, Dry..........

The East Coast is BAKING. I've lake hunted all I care to. I want to relic hunt, but, as you said......need a jackhammer. I thought about going out, drinking about a case of beer, and "whiz" on the targets. Naw, wouldn't work. If we don't get a hurricane to restore the water table, I'm affraid this drought is going to carry over to next year. Then we WILL be in trouble.
