Has anyone else used or been curious about Tangra detectors? Are they on par with other fairly modern analog-ish detectors like Tesoro and Detech? Interestingly, both Detech and Tangra are Bulgarian, I believe. Being a musician and a casual firearms enthusiast, I have found Bulgarian products to be rather formidable in those categories and have been continuously impressed by their quality, capability and ingenuity....especially for the money. Most of us in here seem regard Turkish Nokta-Makro as the most bang for the buck. Bulgarian tech seems to do well at uniting new and old rather than pushing the envelope in ways that "dis" the consumer. They give you a lot of bang for the buck. They make up for how the western elite brands try to screw us with bells & whistles at the expense of quality. I've owned a few Tesoro detectors and I was impressed with them in the same way I am with my Bulgarian guns and musical equipment. So does anyone have any experience or educated opinion about Tangra (and maybe also Detech) detectors? I kind of like having a simple but powerful machine with knobs and switches, even if I DO have the latest/greatest digital tech at my disposal ...and this includes Tesoro as well. I am not done with Tesoro and may eventually grab a Vaquero or Lobo for a good price. Hopefully I've given a good idea of what I'm looking for. I currently own a Nokta Gold Kruzer and Legend, but I'd like to find a good analog machine. I'm curious about the Bulgarian Tangra and Detech machines.

Interestingly, Tangra is located in Plovdiv, Bulgaria and Plovdiv is the oldest continuously inhabited city in the world so maybe that gives a testimony as to how these Bulgarian mental detectors were developed!

For some reason that I'd like to know, there's quite a few Bulgarian detector manufacturers.

I have a blisstool, deeptech, and had a couple Golden Mask detectors. All built decently well. The deeptech seems a little behind the game requiring AA batteries but has some cool features and could be setup to do some cherry picking!

They are all pretty deep providing you spend some time to learn how to get them to go deep without sounding of on the ground or hot rocks.

However I don't have experience with detech or tanga. My buddy runs a detech 11.5 inch coil on his apex and it goes very deep compared to stock coils.

Not sure they’re Bulgarian but close enough. My buddy and I have had 5-6 golden mask detectors and they’ve been great performing, well built and we never had any problems with any of them.
Thanks! That's actually another obscure brand that I've seen on eBay from time to time and always wondered about.

EDIT: I looked it up, Rammjäger...and YES, Golden Mask is also Bulgarian! That's really intriguing that three similar analog-type detectors are made in Bulgaria. I wonder if they're somehow closely affiliated like Nokta and Makro. are. I'd really like to have at least one machine like Deeptech/Tangra/Golden Mask/Tesoro. It would be nice if they made some of them MF. I don't think Tesoro ever made one. I really prefer knobs and switches to menu-diving. A hybrid machine would be cool, kind of like a more modern, upgraded Tesoro Vaquero. One with a small screen, lots of hands-on controls...and very sophisticated and adjustable audio.

Nexus and Pirate detectors are also made in Bulgaria. Sheesh, how many more? Very unusual.

It could be because they may have heavy tariffs on imported goods. But that's just me guessing. There had to be a reason. Or they are just really smart people!

Here's what AI says

Several factors contribute to the high number of metal detector manufacturers in Bulgaria:
Historical Significance:
* Rich Archaeological Heritage: Bulgaria has a long and fascinating history, with traces of various civilizations, including Thracians, Romans, Byzantines, and Ottomans. This rich past has left behind numerous archaeological sites and artifacts, making Bulgaria a potentially fruitful ground for metal detecting enthusiasts.
* Treasure Hunting Tradition: The presence of historical treasures has fostered a tradition of treasure hunting in Bulgaria. This has created a demand for metal detectors, leading to the emergence of local manufacturers.
Economic Factors:
* Lower Manufacturing Costs: Compared to some Western European countries, Bulgaria may offer lower manufacturing costs, making it attractive for metal detector companies to set up production.
* Skilled Labor Force: Bulgaria has a tradition of technical education and a skilled labor force, which is essential for manufacturing sophisticated electronic devices like metal detectors.
Market Demand:
* Growing Popularity of Metal Detecting: Metal detecting has become increasingly popular as a hobby in recent years, both in Bulgaria and internationally. This has created a larger market for metal detectors, encouraging more manufacturers to enter the market.
* Tourism: Bulgaria's popularity as a tourist destination, particularly for those interested in history and archaeology, may also contribute to the demand for metal detectors.
Other Factors:
* Government Regulations: While Bulgaria has regulations regarding metal detecting and the protection of cultural heritage, the laws may be more lenient or easier to navigate compared to some other countries. This could make it more feasible for metal detector manufacturers to operate in Bulgaria.
* Entrepreneurship: Bulgaria has a growing entrepreneurial spirit, with individuals seeking opportunities in various industries. The metal detector manufacturing sector may be seen as a viable business opportunity.
It's important to note that while Bulgaria has a number of metal detector manufacturers, the industry is still dominated by larger, international companies. However, Bulgarian manufacturers have carved out a niche for themselves by focusing on specific types of detectors, such as those designed for deep seeking or relic hunting, and by offering competitive prices.
