2 days, not 3. Spent 3 nights but 2 days hunting just a few hours due to being sick. But I was out there, wasn't going to let being sick as an excuse not to go.


You must be referring to someone else because I didn't get skunked. Only in your mind are finds other than gold considered getting skunked.

I guess if you were to go down to the Treasure Coast and find a handful of 1715 silver Reales, we could all laugh at you and say that you got "skunked" because you didn't find any gold. Is that how your mind works?

If you don't know how to read, that's OK, but there are plenty of intelligent people here who do know how to read and who have actually read books to learn. Went down the Treasure Coast two years 2010- 2013 , I did find 18k gold , however it was sanded in both times in MAY , the best time is winter , but really you being a Local & can jump up on the beach right after a Storm & knowing were to go - is best , otherwise your only chance is finding a stray , odds very high . PS I do look everyday for a place down there , no joke , happy hunting ,

Had what in my bag Surf Dreamer? I don't do excuses. I was sick as a dog, but I still went out, I searched, and I found. Finding nothing but trash is getting skunked. Finding anything of value, whether coins, rings, bling, silver, gold, titanium or whatever, that's not getting skunked.

But Armchair Quarterbacks like you get skunked every time you post, because you're not actually out there hunting or trying. You don't go; so you're always in a perpetual state of being skunked.

Question: I've always wondered how such great finds are made so far out from land. Since you're hitting older, back in the day swim areas, do you think people waded out that far to swim? OR, over time, could the land have eroded/receded further and further back, which would push normal/typical swim areas farther out? Yes...

Thanks SH! Thru research of pictures and old aerials things are a lot different now, back then water was lower, beaches went out further and each beach seems to have a different demography structure of population and the different groups within them. Like this beach it was more of a place one would take the family, the beach a few hundred yards north of here was a younger crowd, lot of class rings. And different types of people swam in different areas.. then you add all the beaches closed in the late 60s. And the beaches sands have eroded away and water levels have raised, and storms have changed the bottoms. So what was once a sandy beach is now 100 feet out of muck. Rarely find gold in close, where it was once drysand. And being water levels were lower folks would be out in the deep. Many of these spots if the sand is washed away one can still feel the post, pilings.. from these I can tell the edge of where the sea nettle nets were.

There you go Surf Dreamer, you had a good trip, met some great guys, had a good time, and found some silver. That would be a success in my book and most other hunter's book, but according to your "rules", you didn't find gold, so you got skunked. Gold doesn't matter? You said I got "skunked" when I found that 925 ring because it wasn't gold. You're very confusing because according to your "rules", gold is the only thing that matters, and if you don't find gold, you get "skunked" no matter what else of value you may have found. So please clarify, does gold matter or not? Or does it only matter if others don't find gold, but if you didn't find any gold, then it's OK?

If you want to get be a dry sand hunter sell your TDI's and get a nice Tesoro Compadre its all you need... or even a Ace 150 don't need a fancy detector... If I was to buy another pulse, I would give the AQ a crack even with all its issues... but right now, not interested, I have lined up some nice dirt spots to hunt.

You never got close enough to the water to smell any mud, it didn't smell. OK, you are invited but not to stand on the beach, I'll give you some suntan lotion and you can go hang out with the beach goers, I'll even supply you with a beach towel.... thanks for comparing me with KOB he is a very good beach hunter like I have been over the years...
