Worked a lot this summer, and now I can go exploring again. These are my new few finds. Like to hear what you think ,people with the same opsession
Thank youGreat finds, congrats!
I am in Croatia and the law is strict about detecting near any historical significant objects wich I wouldn't do anyway..But no one will tell you anything if you detect in diffrent areas. I have a friend who is arheologist so I tell her whenever I found anything old.Lokito, are you in Hungary or nearby? What do your laws say about detecting? We hear scary things about much of Europe.

It was out of a compendium book, some author had made. Which attempted to detail the laws of all the different European countries, regarding md'ing. And some (most ?) of them had dire sounding verbiage.
And other md'rs from Spain also chimed in on that thread to say : "Not a problem".
Or inquire of the border consulate or lawyer, etc... Or perhaps something was already on-the-net, and he just copies and pastes that (which, itself, was ALSO probably gleaned from someone prior to that : "Asking a desk jockey").
Yep - I totally get this.Next story :
About 20+ Years ago, I listed an older model Fisher metal detector on Ebay. To my dismay, the winning bidder was someone from EUROPE !I really didn't want the hassle of shipping to Europe, but ... since I had failed to specify "USA only", I was bound to honor the deal. The buyer pre-paid for everything, including handsome $ for overseas shipping. Apparently this was a type of Fisher machine that hunters, in his area, favor. And could only be found on the used market. Thus : No sweat off my back.
But my curiosity got the better of me : I looked up his particular European country , in the compendium book, and saw that it had dire sounding wording. If not outright "no" (I forget which country now). So .... I decided to poke the bear and showed him the captured scan of that page. Asking him : "How do you detect in your country. Doesn't this wording make it a no-no ?"
To which he said that what I was citing , was for public land. But that you could detect private land there (farmers land with permission) to your heart's content.
But what's strange is, THE BOOK MAKES NO SUCH DISTINCTION ! A casual reading, of the laws cited in the book, make it *seem* like : Border to border . But the guy assured me there's plenty of md'ing going on. There was even a club in his town (this was ~20+ yrs. ago).
And he added that, ...... quite frankly ... uh ... when they detect that they are "so far back in the boonies" that there's no one around, to care, in the first place.
So the bottom line is : I think that most all of the "dire sounding stuff " you read, came about by past md'rs swatting hornet's nests. Becoming victims of "No one cared UNTIL you asked". And yes, this psychology phenomenon can occur even on a country-wide scale.
Very Cool!!! Congrats!!!Worked a lot this summer, and now I can go exploring again. These are my new few finds. Like to hear what you think ,people with the same opsession![]()
