Found on a farm with coins to 1880. It seem to me to be auto related It’s too small to be a traffic signal indicator on a studabaker that reflected traffic light color to driver but seems to be made to carry light somewhere .
Patent date says 7/31 00 or 7/3/00
Any thoughts?

Whats the center made out of ? The translucent part with the v notch .

I do believe it to an early road reflector. Center is glass and when a bright light hits it is reflected both down and up meeting in the middle making a projected return beam you can see from a great distance depending on the intensity of the light hitting it. A mirror out in the elements wouldn't last very long. At least this is my thinking. Tell you what, clean the glass up really well, place it outside somewhere your headlights would hit it and see if that works. :waytogo:

So, I tapped on it with a table knife and I’m sure it is glass.
It is more clear than the picture shows
The holes on each side make me think it hangs from something so it can swivel??

I keep looking at this like an insulator such as a clip to hold a wire like ignition cable.
