Arrow Casting

Does anyone know what this was used for? I found it at a site where an old Girl Scout cabin used to be. It stands about 9 1/2" high by 3 3/8" wide. It is chisel shaped on the end and appears to be Bronze.

Personally, I don't think so, and if it does look like I think it looks, I'm 99% certain it fell off of a Flying Saucer!

The back is rough, like that of a casting. Also, at the top ends of the arrow back, there are places about 1/8' dia. where it looks like pins have been ground off.

The pins on the back that have been ground off are just that - channels for the metal to pass through as it's being cast.
Why not send a pic of it to the Girl Scouts online site ? Steve in so az

It may not be the complete object, it could be part of something bigger which has been broken and the end cleaned up ?

It definitely has not been modified from it's original casting, other than the pins being cut off. The casting even tapered to the bottom end. That is what fascinates me, it had to have had some purpose. The patina on the bronze just makes it that much more beautiful. Certainly not the kind of thing you find every day.

arrow of light?

The closest thing I found to match was along the lines of the "arrow of light" that is awarded to the cub scouts. I don't know if the girl scouts have an equivalent award or not. I looked at the various girl scout patches online and none have an arrow at all.

Maybe they carried it around when they sold cookies and would whack you with it if you didn't buy any...

I'm with Alan - looks like a trim piece off an old car. Does it look plated?
