They keep installing rubber mats under the playgrounds! Now I have about ten schools left with woodchips and shredded tires.
Oh well it is what it is.

If you can get there during the replacement process, you might get there after they've scraped out all the old sand (or tan bark, or whatever the prior surface was), and before the installation of the rubber. Because typically they have to doze out the outgoing material. And that narrow window of time (the night that it sits fallow, before the rubber is brought in the next morning), might be the time to reach deepies.

In my city's "Central park", it had a sand box that dated back to the 1920s. And it was no secret to the local md'rs, that there was some wheaties and silver to be had, assuming you could reach 10" deep for whispers. And : All the gimmes had long-since been harvested. But about 10 yrs. ago the city came in to replace that sand, and ... in the process, scraped out all the old sand. And we had a field day getting more silver, wheaties, buffalos, etc... , during the couple of nights it sat naked.

And no, we didn't get any large cents. But it's ok : They're boring and we didn't want them anyhow, eh ?
