An "El Nino" gonna hit the coast of CA this winter ?

You have had some extreme weather and rain. Curious as to cutting waterlogged grass. Can you not cut it , special blades or mowers ? Idk....
I cut it, I just have to cut it more than once, one lawn had water sitting in backyard I didn't care I just cut it anyway lol... thing about mulching blades I don't get any grass clunkers when regular blades are used... you know what I mean right?

We are all getting older and who knows how many more epic beach erosion seasons we'll have in our lifetimes? I may not have as much stamina as I had 10 or 20 years ago but now I have better metal detectors, more intel and improved strategies when hunting.
Years ago I had a hunt at Laguna Beach where I found many silver coins as well as coins over 100 years old since the beach was severely eroded. I remember posting about that hunt here and at the time I was thrilled with my results. Now, looking back I realize that I probably missed a great opportunity. There was, no doubt, gold and maybe even very old gold within reach and i found neither. Now I know better and can't wait for another chance!
You mean you aren't hunting 10, 12 hours a day anymore? :D

Good thing he doesn't have a commercial grade mower, mine weighs about 1500 lbs. , you will sink in the mud if wet , was thinking about cutting mine again , Its only been three days , about 3 inches of rain is coming :stormy:

I did a test run on the jetski yesterday, (It's not been in the water since spring 2017) I felt like I was holding on for my life.. can't remember feeling like that before..

Good post ^ ^ And yes, when I look back at what went on during the 1982-83 event, I realize how much I missed. When I extrapolate the dozen or so times I *DID* get out (between work and college classes and chasing girls), to what was assuredly "going on" : I now wish I had quit my job, and spent the entire 4 months camped out at-the-beach metal detecting. And roving between beaches for the varying hot-spots that I now can weave together, having talked to the various players.

There was a particular guy I knew from that winter, whose only job, at the time, was landlord over 5 or 6 properties. So he could come-&-go as he pleased. So for a single couple-of-week stretch, he was at Carmel beach every day. And on one 5 day stretch, he recounted ( a few years later when he told me of the event) that : he had NO LESS than 5 gold rings every day. And on one day 12 gold rings. And silver coin counts of 50-ish per day.

On that same 82-83 event, a southern CA hunter recalled that on one particular week, he had NO LESS than 100 silver coins per day. And something like 12 gold on one of those days. He was so exhausted , by the end of that week, that he had to go to the hospital with repetitive stress syndrome of a wacked out painful arm (the repeat motion of the arm-swipe sand scoop motion). When the doctor quizzed him on what the heck he'd been doing, they told him : "No more of that. Take a break, it's f*cking up your shoulder/arm". And they gave him a script for pain pills and told him to rest his arm.

But the next day, guess where he was ? Yup, you guessed it: Back at the beach . Albeit switching his swing and dig arm to the opposite arms/wrists. Doh !

Thanks Tom, I have seen a one or two come up over here, and an earlyish Cob is a bucket lister for me!

I've heard of two Cobs (hence pre-dating 1750s) that turned up on CA beaches after storms . One on Carmel River beach, and the other on a Half Moon Bay beach.

Between 1876-1878 there was famine in Asia , South America and Africa. Many things were responsible for this including economic , political and infrastructure screwups. Scientists now say that another contributing factor was....the El Nino of 1876-1878.

I have a ditch with 4 foot high weeds I can't control , tell him to come down , I will drag him & his mower down in the ditch just to see if his so called commercial mower can cut it , since its lighter he might not get stuck  , instead of me having to buy --- https://www.drpower.com/Power-Equip...Series-/DR-Field-and-Brush-Mower/p/AT41026BMN

What do I care how many mowers you have? Maybe Bear or KOB will open a mower museum for you... I did a pick up job today, a quarter acre lawn got a hundred dollars for 15 minutes of trimming and cutting... I didn't ask for a hundred she said I did an awesome job and gave me extra. You just jelli you paid over 10 grand for a mower that I paid less than half of it, I tried the scags and they sucked, If I had a choice I would have bought a Ransomes Bobcat zero turn but decided to go a different route got a 28hp Kolher, i would have preferred a Kawasaki engine but it didn't come with one in the model I bought.

Do me a favor start a thread in another sub-forum you wanna beat your chest over a lawn mower... might as well beat it over something you can't find gold with all your expensive toys.

Everything competition or he has the best toys lol... my mower made in US has a welded 11 gauge deck... he laughs at 48inch deck  I guess he doesn't realize I cut high end accounts who have pools or fenced in yards that have a 48 inch opening, let "Surfy" know if you see him

I’ve had days with 15-20 silver and three gold. Even without extreme erosion, I think 30-50 silvers and 5-7 gold is certainly conceivable with in some areas… if you know your beaches.

But if you want those kind of days, YOU CAN’T BE TELLING EVERYBODY AND THEIR BROTHER WHERE TO GO! If you find a hot spot, keep it to yourself, or maybe one close buddy. You can’t be calling 5-10 of your “friends” (who likely call 5-10 of their “friends”) and announcing potential hot spots on the internet, and then expect that kind of return. Seeing 10-15 hunters converge on a hot spot because you can’t keep your yap shut is just plain… well… you fill in the blank.
