Headed out today for some mid day to late afternoon detecting, hoping for one silver coin to get me to 50 for the year. I had a previous permission on a yard where the owner said he was going to mow the tall grass and weeds, last check it was not done, this time when I drove by today the lawn looked nice and trim! Found a few wheat cents, a ladies watch, an old copper wedding type band, an aluminum shaker top, and lots of modern clad and copper cents. I did pull a really neat ring, costume jewelry but definitely old, with carved or shaped stone (shown in closeup photo). I then started in on some curb strips, lots of copper Memorial cents, clad dimes, some clad quarters, but no silver. I got the OK at a 1920s home, a 1937 home, and a 1949 home, but still no shiny coins. My last bit of detecting was on a side street curb strip, got a "80" on my AT Pro, possible wheat cent, when out popped a 1945-S Silver War Nickel! That VDI number does not match that coin, rechecked the hole and found that a wheat cent had sat atop the War Nickel. Whew... got my 50th shiny coin for the year, very happy with that as I have not done a ton of detecting so far! Other odd finds were a Michael Stevens International purse tag, a thick hunk of copper wire, and of course an aluminum Washington State tax token. Pictures follow, thank you for your interest!

I wish I could get out half as much as you guys. Anyway congrats and continued success.
