2 gold rings yesterday

Got out with some buddies yesterday, hoping that mother nature would be "doing her thing" on our beaches. Unfortunately the swell had seriously subsided by the time of the high tide yesterday morning (nor was it an especially high tide in the first place). But we held out hope that perhaps some erosion had gone on.

1st stop: A few silver coins and wheaties showed up between us . My buddy got a toasted walker half and silver washington. I got a 14k ring with diamond chip. But pickens were slim , so we went on to scout a couple of other beaches instead. No staggering results at any of them. But I ended the day with 49 coins (inc. a 1935 buffalo & a few wheaties). 2 gold rings (both dainty ladies rings, with no notable stones). 1964 dog license (I always enjoy getting old dog tags).

And in-lieu of some recent posts here, I am not at liberty to say where we went. Lest, heaven forbid, my home be targeted for a robbery. Or lest, heaven forbid, someone else went to the same beach @ the next erosion episode, and found something .

Tom, are those like antique detectors in the bed of that truck? Good scores on the rings, they look in good shape.

Haha, yes, I can't shake the Explorer II. 20+ yr. old technology now. Just too addicted to it. I'm fully aware that it's not "hot" on low conductors (which means I'm more likely to miss dainty fine gold jewelry). And I'm fully aware that other machines are better to see in and around iron (minimize "masking"). And fully aware that others are going to be better in nasty wet-salt-minerals. But : Try as I may, I can't shake it.

And others here are likewise addicted to their Etrac's (almost as old as the Exp. II, and of the same lineage). There's just something addictive about those that are hard to shake.

Don't you have a Nox ? Did you not get comfortable with it or what ? I can understand though because I still like my old PI.

One of these days your gonna go to your beach spots and see 10 guys all swinging away....for 5 days straight. And we already know where you live and the blueprint file cabinet you hide your finds in. 🤣

Congrats on the rings Tom. Sounds like you earned then too. The Explorer is serving you quite well for sure. Well done.

Kob : That time you coached me through some suggested settings : That was a borrowed Nox. After a few weeks, it was returned to the owner . Technically I should update, I grant you. Because I could not deny that it did a bit better in the gunpowder nasty black, and my nickel count ratio jumped up.

As for potential for guys to be along side me at an eroded beach : That doesn't bother me. And if they find a goodie that *technically* could have been mine, that's fine .

I could point blank say where gold coins, and 300+ coin-count-days occurred, in past decades. And those "10 guys" (that you paint a picture of) can go KNOCK THEMSELVES SILLY there. And will find nothing (as you well know). And they will tend to NOT understand *when* to go . They invariably never end up at the right place at the right time, so I tend to STILL have the beach all to myself (with the same repeat 1 or 2 or 3 others of us who are "in the know" to read/predict erosion). And if someone new shows up , then again : It doesn't bother me . I am equally happy when I see others do good. But .... that's just me.

Note : When it comes to land sites (middle of nowhere stage stops, etc....) then yes : I clam up. And hunt with an elite exclusive set. Sure. That's a totally different ball game.

WOW Tom! What a change of heart!

You have been posting that beach on the Internet for the last 10 years despite several of us who actually live here asking you not to. Now, after every storm event, we see three or four people from out of town scouting it. And when it’s hitting, there are another three, four, or more (15 in 2014)!

Very considerate and respectful of you not to name that beach… AGAIN!

30 coins, a few wheats, a silver, steel and a 10k ring that I forgot to post from last trip to a certain nondescript and vast beach region somewhere in North America.😂

Nice gold ring... reminds of countless gold pull tabs minus the tail....fooled me so many times.

So...The truth comes out. Don't let your No.Cal turn into a So.Cal. Before you know it , there will be a flood of Youtubers up there. There's already one , MMM.
