I found my first silver! I found this 1916 Barber dime along with 4 Wheaties, 3 nickles, about 10 Memorials, and this old button. Can anyone identify it for me?
I am loving my new Fisher CZ-3D! I still haven't figured it out yet and I'm finding good stuff, wait until I know what I'm doing!
I think I found a secret spot too Jeff, I'll be going back soon. I had a lot of hits that were really deep and I quit on. When I have more time I'll get those finds.
Any ideas on the button? Oh ya, can I clean it?
Thanks

WOW! congrats on your finds. Can't help you with the button though sorry. I definately looks military.

Great dime! However, it looks like you rubbed it while it still had dirt on it or scrubbed it too hard with a brush. Take care with the silver coins and try to only touch the edges.

One of the Wheaties that I found is a 1909, I can just barely make out the date. I can't tell if there is a mint mark or letters on the back, it's in rough shape.
I'm going to hit that spot again tomorrow at sunrise.

Congrats on your finds. Glad you are having good luck with your machine. I haven't put my coil over a barber dime yet. That's one of the coins on my list of "hope to find this year."

As for the button, I saw that on a site I visited tonight researching the button I found today. I'd give you the link but I visited so many sites I wouldn't know where to send you! lol ...

Try doing a goole search or even a yahoo search for old eagle button and expand from there. There are so many sites out there. It helps if you can read the words or even part of a word on the back of the button. I could only read "aranted" on the back of my button and during my search I determined it said "Warranted" ... hope this helps.

HH!

Nice finds, Roger! The dime is great.

I agree with OD, though, it's best to suppress the desire to rub the soil away from a silver coin, since it tends to create those nasty hairline scratches.
