Finally, today I found the real treasure I been searching for. And of course I went back to one of two all time favorite locations. Now that I pretty much removed all the clad and trash, I was able to get down to business and refocus on low conductors again.

The ring is a 14k extra large in size and weighing in at 4.66 grams. It was about 5" deep in the ground. It read on the meter as a 14. As the saying goes, gold turns up when we least expect it. Hopefully, I'll find #2 gold between now and the end-of-the-year!

Just on a side note, combined from just my two favorite locations that I started hunting since last year I have found approx. 4,200 quarters. I basically stopped counting after I hit my 4k benchmark from this site too.

Needless to say, I will be probably be hitting this site again from time to time, if it is just to recover a few more coins for icing on the cake or to keep up with inflation.

Thanks again for checking things out!

Yeah buddy, congrats on the gold. 'How Sweet It Is" And like you said its when you least expect it. I dig most mid-tones but they are either nickels or pulltabs. The 800 hits them hard but if you can believe it the 900 clobbers them. But it hasn't found me any gold yet. And haven't been putting in the time like I used to. That needs to change. That site of yours just keeps giving, good luck on your return. Mark

Congratulations on the 14K! I know I need to dig more lower numbers if I want to find any, just gotta do it.
Thanks jhanson! That's what makes those gold pieces so darn elusive, generally they are mixed in with those trash target signals that we hate to dig up. And in my case, targets were getting scarce, so I was digging more and more of those junk signals and finally it paid off. John

You say it rang up a 14? On the 'Nox 600 or 800? I've only ever found pulltabs at that number so that's special. Awesome!
Thanks Silverhorse65! I am using the old 800. I'm as surprised as you are with the vdi. However, it just goes show that gold can come in at a wide range spectrum of numbers. What is most interesting is that I and probably others have been over this exact spot a good number of times and because of that oddish vdi we all passed it up for one reason or another. This really makes me think again about how much gold we are possibly leaving behind on any given hunt. And like you, going forward, I'm sure I'll be finding more pull tabs at those usual numbers again and again. :( John

Thanks Mark! I believe this is reason #6,386 why gold is so elusive are that it did not give a good solid signal nor tone. Every time I find gold and they are very few, I try to analyze that signal that made me want to dig it up for future reference. So in my case, I strongly believe it was large size of the ring, the outside diameter is slightly larger that a quarter. And therefore, this is what threw the game off from priorly digging it up, thinking it was another pull tab or can slaw.

Finally for now, I'm so glad I found my one goldie at least for this year! On a side note, I have not hunted much this year too as some of those possible locations are starting to being gated off or restrictive and the weather. Good luck and HH! John

Thanks hoser! I paid my dues for this one. After digging hundreds of nickels and many more pull tabs I finally was able to find some gold. It was just an odd sounding signal that I decided to dig it and of course I'm glad I did. Thanks again!

Thanks Reelfoot Relics! Those goldies don't come by easy or often but when they are found, the pouch weighs a little bit heavier and fuller. I hope you find yours soon too.
