I was talking to one of my detecting buddies several years ago, and we had been digging lots and lots of bullets. He probably has 5000 or more, by now. I suggested that, since we get excited about finding bullets, we should start collecting the guns that shot them. He now has 24 Civil War carbines(each one a different type), and I just purchased an 1861 Springfield Musket and an 1863 Sharps Carbine. The wife doesn't know about the sharps yet, so here's a picture of the Springfield.
