I dug these up at the Stewart Malloy house and can't figure out what they are. The home was a farm for decades, dating back to the 1700's. It hasn't been a farm for several decades as well, I'm guessing the mid 1900's.

I posted them to flickr.com (search mlitty stewartmalloyhouse)

Here are the shots. I've no idea what these are.

This one is about 11" across at the widest point. One side is flattened by design. The inner hole is toothed like a gear. It's heavy.

This is a group shot. The two identical bottom right pieces were found in different parts of the yard about 10" down. They are around 12" in length and have a narrower side at the bottom, the longest side. I'm guessing some kind of tractor part, but I don't know.

The top center looks like a mushroom with a wide base and two bolt holes. The base was shaped like an eye, rounded at the ends, but has been broken. I'm not as interested in this one as much, but a clue would be good.

The bottom left I'd love to identify. It looks like a saddle at the top of a curved metal bar with holes at the ends. Here's a close up.

These I know are the heads from garden hoes, but I thought I'd throw them in for fun. One was found back in the woods that used to be a field. The others were found around the house. Three were 10" down, the more intact one is more modern looking and was only about 6-8" down.

one of the items looks like the part off a boat where you tie a rope around it and dock it

I'm thinking that the first item could be protective 'cover' for power take-off shaft in a tractor or some other farm machine.

Those sound like good guesses. I hit Google with every suggestion, looking for a matching photo, but no luck thus far. I guess it's unlikely that I'll find just the right photo anyway.

I'm willing to believe that it's part of the drive train for a tractor. Clutch or PTO, I'm not sure, but something in there. I thought that the combination of the open sides, flat side, and the geared inner hole was weird. It looks like it's meant to spin, but the shape would be extremely off balance.

Any ideas on the saddle looking thing?

The longer pieces of metal look like plow shears on a moldboard plow. The holes look like they are square and dished out for the plow bolts to seat in. Plow bolts are like a carriage bolt but fit flush so the head doesn't wear off. The round piece does look like a pto cover but it needs some mounting holes.

I think you're right about the plow shears. You describe it perfectly and online images show very similar blades

I'll try to clean up the cover and see if it has the holes and any other identifying marks. It may be a few days, this is going to be a busy week.

So I guess I can assume that's what this thing is that I found a few years ago, right?

Yes, it is different, and it does telescope towards the camera (on the left side), but it looks like it bolts onto a blade just like yours. In case it's a relative of what you dug, I simply wanted to share what another one could look like. Yours looks like a more modern replacable type. The thing I dug weighs at least 20 lbs... but that doesn't mean anything. It's junk in my book. Yours is probably re-usable with a little polishing. Mine is probably obsolete.
