I found this metal object metal detecting around a school built in the 1960's. Any ideas on what it is? It has a high pitched ring to it when you drop it.

I dug this metal ring in NC near a former mental hospital built in the 1850s. I found it close to where I found the shank button I previously posted about. It is 1" in diameter. Does anyone know what it is ??
