Ok I use the word "hobbies" loosely, I know it is well more than that for most of us, from a strong interest to a passion to a near obsession and everywhere in between.

That said, I am always interested to see what others are into.
I'm into muscle cars and guitars for a couple, I am a union carpenter by trade and make alot of things on CNC, here are a few examples.

I do make some pretty good $$ sometimes but often I make things because I can, and sometimes simply give things away, but its nice to take something you have in your brain and create it. My main materials are wood [of course] plexiglas and corian but use quite a variety besides that including metals, foams and all sorts of plastics.

Those are awesome! You have some real talent there. The buckethead and 1911 ones are really cool.

My other hobbies are guns, guitar and especially motorcycles. Also enjoy drag racing. I’ve owned a bunch of bikes, but my current toy is a nitrous sniffing Gen 2 Busa.

I ride with a bunch of hooligans who, like me, are way too old to be riding these stoopid fast crotch rockets. It’s so much fun though!

Detecting is definitely my favorite, but riding is a close 2nd.

Wow that thing looks fast parked !
Props to you for knowing about Buckethead, the guy is a pure gem that alot of folks have never heard of. I've seen him live a dozen times or so, just a breathtaking, once in a generation player.
1911 was fun to make, can be tough to get great detail in plexi but I nailed this one.

I agree, he is amazing. I’m mostly a metal head, but enjoy listening to talented guitarist of all different genres. Everything from Dave Mustaine to Monte Montgomery.

Guitars, Cars, Guns, RC/Drones.

I started playing guitar at age 8, played my first gig in 1969, and recorded an album in 1987, played in my last band in 1989. Great times indeed. I love music of all types, but I really like 80s metal. I do like my CCR, but I like my Motley Cure just as well. I think the 80s saw the peak of guitar players. JMO.

I played in many bands over the 20 years of gigging but SWITCH was the one that went the furthest. We were just inducted into the Kansas Music Hall Of Fame this year. A great honor to be sure.

Here is an early picture of me and my first guitar, and our induction video.

Love my Mustangs. Restored many over the years and had fun with my fast ones. Here is also a picture of my favorite. A 2012 GT500 Super Sleeper. It was an upgrade to a Super Snake but done by Ford instead of Shelby. Also my 1964 1/2 convertible and 2015 GT I like putting in car shows together to celebrate 50 years. A picture of some of the Mustangs I restored over the years.

Damn Detector, you've restored a bunch of Mustangs! Very nice! Quite an accomplishment with your music as well. I played in some local bands back in the day. Had a lot of fun and our band opened for South Gang, if you've ever heard of them.

amc rulz, love the "then & now" pictures.

I love cars too, but mine are more along the lines of modern muscle. Not as cool as the classics but still fun!

Very nice! I love modern muscle. Yeah, the classics are cool and get a lot of thumbs up, but nothing beats the feel of a good quick car. Love the F-Body Pontiacs. Came really close to getting my hands on a Firehawk. The day I was going to go get it I found out it had a rebuilders title. Changed my mind just before I left. My 2015 GT was FBO (full bolt on) with a tuner, and running E85 corn fuel. I used to love having people pull up wanting to race thinking 435 horsepower, and give them one heck of a surprise LOL. My Shelby was at 750 HP after the upgrades. I could have taken it to the full 800 HP by just going to a 2.5" top pully but I went with a 3". 750 proved to be more than enough for the street.

Guns, guitars, bikes and cars a common theme among detector guys, who would have ever guessed !

Heres my 2 beasts, pic from a few years back, still look the same. Haven't run them in a couple years, hopefully this spring I'll get at least one out for a romp.
Have them stored indoors so they ain't hurting nothing just sitting for a while.

A few of my guitars, I have over 25. Note that they are leftys except the Strat, which I will convert shortly. Been playing mostly acoustic lately, and have been lusting over a carbon fiber model, they are tough to find left handed.

Very nice.

Several years ago I walked into a pawn shop and noticed an ugly Kramer guitar propped up in the corner of the store. It had a nasty rattle can paint job and looked terrible, but being the guitar nerd that I am, I instantly recognized the shape, headstock and inlays on the fretboard. It was a 1980s Kramer Nightswan. I looked at the price tag which was only $450, so I immediately snatched it up since I knew it was worth considerably more.

Got it home and started removing the sh!tty paintjob and noticed it still had some of its original midnight blue paint underneath. Turns out this was a Vivian Campbell signature edition Nightswan! So I took all the hardware off and stripped it down completely. Then refinished it, and sent it over to a buddy of mine to get the lightning bolts airbrushed back on. It turned out pretty damn good! I ended up selling it a few years later for $2500. Nowadays this guitar brings over 5 grand.

Nice - 80's Kramer and an ESP are on my bucket list.
I once bought a Gibson Hummingbird from a guy who apparently didn't do any research before he sold it, I got it for $350 and sold it for $3K, turned around and bought me a nice Taylor lefty with the proceeds.

Beautiful cars & guitars. Killer save on the Kramer. I played a 1983 Kramer Pacer Carrea with the band SWITCH. Wish I still had mine. I had to sell pretty much everything to try and keep from filing bankruptcy. CVID cost me a lot.

I was more a Gibson fan. Especially the Les Paul. Back when I was working and making good money, and single, I bought a lot of very nice guitars. 6 Gibson Les Pauls from the Traditional to the Supreme, PRS custom 24 10 top, I am thankful I still have a few lower cost guitars. My 48 year old Electra 2264 white Zephyr LP copy which I'll never sell.

Always liked the Les Paul. In that 2nd picture, the guitar on the left looks like a PRS? I've never tried one of those but always heard good things about them.

I sold almost all of my equipment a few years ago. I *wish* I had hung on to some of the old USA made guitars that I had back in the day. A lot of them sell for big money nowadays.

My last setup was a Dean Dime signature Razorback (Slimebolt), a Peavey 6505+ head & cab, and a Green Screamer pedal. Sounded pretty mean! Since I don't play in any bands anymore, nowadays I just have a cheap practice amp and one cheap guitar. A Positive Grid Spark, and a Jackson X Series Dinky Extreme with Fishman Fluence pickups. That's all I really need for the occasional bedroom jam session.

Yes, it is a PSR Custom 24 10 top. I had also heard a lot of hype about PSRs so first I bought a John Myer SE that wasn't good at all. Then I was told the SE was not USA made and to get a good PRS I needed to buy a USA made one. I spent $1,800 on the top of the line Custom 24 10 top because I was told it was their best. It was hype. Played and sounded no better than my Ibanez or Squiers. Lesson learned.

I had a Dinky and thought it played and sounded pretty darn good.

Thanks for the heads up because I’ve actually been considering one. In that case, I think I’ll hold off. I probably don’t need to spend any $$$ on guitar stuff anyway. I’d just get into hot water with the wife.
I found a Kramer in my basement. Bought it early 80’s.

Nice! Depending on the model, some of those 80s Kramers bring big $$$$!

This thread got me thinking about Buckethead and I ended up selling the model posted above last week - That drove me to make another one, haven't made anything in a while and its good to keep your modeling/machining skills up to date when you are into CNC ,, Like anything else, most things become 2nd nature after a while but you lose your edge if you take alot of time off, and things that you did on the fly before you have to stop and think about to avoid errors.

This one is made out of poplar and is about 12x11, was going to be 14x12 but I made one of those errors just cutting the block so had to reduce the size. This one took over 8 hours, was pretty brutal because of the brick background which is very intensive in Z movement - If there was no background it would have been done in half that time or less.

The bottom model is normal, the one on top I mirrored, flipped and merged it with the background so it appears he is part of the background. Because of this too, it looks like he is playing left handed, can't be avoided when you mirror and flip a model.
2nd pic shows how it looks in the creation software, as you can see the model, if done right, comes out exactly like it.

edit: Ok there is apparently nothing I can do here to get the images straight so I'll call that good
