Went out today with my neighbor and a couple of others. We did ok. Probably got a couple of dozen bullets between us. I got some 3 ringers and pistol bullets, a 32 cal shell casing, some rivets, a flat button and a piece of lead that looks like it might have been the backing to something. At first I thought breast plate but it is a little small for that. I guess we will never know. It was a fun day and felt good to get out.

Love lead hunts, good day! I hope you can find something around that goes to that disk

Nice haul ! Possible the lead could be from one of the small Burnside breast plates.

Looks like a fun hunt. Nice haul!

You might be on to something. It is 2 inches across and I believe the Burnside is a little larger than that. Thank You.

I can’t even imagine diggin one civil war bullet! :wow: that’s a lot of bullets! Congrats - and I hear you on it feeling good to get out, enjoyed a nice hunt today myself

I wonder if them soldiers ever stopped to wonder who'd be digging up their bullets and buttons some 150 years later.

This is the first time I've ever felt this, but it's strange that we chomp at the bit to find evidence of the savage scenes that we call the Civil War.

Ever since digging my own CW lead I can't help but imagine the horror of having those things fired your direction and scrambling to load and return fire back at um.

Hopefully we never have to experience that again. Prayers for ours who serve and protect here and abroad.

Nice digs! I'll be digging on my first hunt of March today up in Partlow on a new permission, just south of the Spotsylvania battlefield.

Wow, you are very close to me. I hope you have a good day. You are in the area for it.

I've wondered the same thing at times. This piece of land really didn't see any major fighting. It was more of a staging area for Chancellorsville which is very close by.

One day I'll have to share some nice finds I made at Stonewalls Flank staging area with Colston's NC Troops, along with a cannonball (half in tact) ground burst they fired at Union troops after achieving the flank.
