The family and I were staying at my in-laws cabin near Garrison, ND this weekend so i had to pick different detecting grounds for the mornings.
There is a small town about an hour away that I've been wanting a token from for some time so that was my target.
I saw a very small, old, abandoned shack of a house that looked good so I called the owner last night and got permission.
I got up this morning and it was raining .......lame. I was going to go anyway so off I went.
When I got to the little town it was raining even harder. I sat in my truck for a bit and tried to decide whether i was going to detect or drive back and figured that one of the reasons i bought a CTX 3030 in the first place was so that i could detect in the rain.
I went straight to the yard right in front of the main door and first signal sounded just like big silver. I didn't know it yet but it was to be the 1st of 6 of the same tokens that were to be exhumed from that yard!
I posted a picture of the first 3 plugs I dug in a row, all containing tokens.
I also got 4 wheats, a Merc and an old dog tag from Thief River Falls.
I got very wet but had a heck of a good hunt!

Wow, Tundra, that is a great score! Your soil sure treats those tokens well, what a great hunt!
Thanks LtS! There is really good soil in the area I was detecting. The pennies I dug came out pretty ugly and crusty but those tokens faired quite well. A lot of times a guy can't get the staining off of those types of tokens.

You recovered so many of that token, it probably lessened the value of each!!

Really awesome hunt. I love old tokens.

Wow, that is incredible! I sometimes wonder if when stores went out of business their tokens were given to kids by their parents as play money. Some tax tokens I found in a lot with no real coins recently seem like they could have been lost by kids. 1914 article-

[emoji38]I know, I was kind of upset that I kept finding them! It's a very hard town to acquire tokens from so the large number of them shouldn't hurt the value too much....I hope.
