Hello everyone,
After lurking for a few months and reading countless posts on this forum I finally purchased my first MD (NOX 600) and pin pointer (white TRX). My first week with my new gear, I managed to get permission on a property that dates back to the 1800s and according to the owner has never been hit with a MD. After my first couple outings, digging up cans, nails and beer tabs for hours on end, my last two have been great! I found a couple wheat pennies, two silver dimes, a flat button and some sort of copper tag. (As soon as I can figure out how to upload pictures, I’ll put them up). Just wanted to check in, thanks for the great content!

Finds

From what I can find online the one is a flat button from possibly the late 1800s?
No idea what the ID tag could be for. Anyone have any ideas? Maybe I’ll post pictures on the ID forum and see what I can find out about them.

I'm curious about that Tag, I did find a reference to an Abraham Mattson in Chester county.

Delaware Co Wills, 1789-1834

BEALE, JOHN, Bethel.
June 23, 1815 - October 21, 1822.
Wife Olive, children: Aaron, Ann CHAMBERLAIN, Phebe, Mary GRAVES, Lydia,
John and Olive - mentions land purchased of Ezekiel PYLE.
Exrs: William TRIMBLE.
Wits: Levi MATSON and Abraham MATTSON. #580.

A Seated dime??? Danged near as rare as chickens teeth. I don't know that my old heart would be able to take having one of those come out of the dirt. Heck I get excited if I find a dime 64 or before. Congratulations of an outstanding find.

Welcome and congrats on all the stuff, I'm going to guess that that tag might be if your keys were attached and you lost them, then whoever found them could throw them in a mailbox and be sent back to you. Back then everyone knew everyone especially the rural postal carriers.
