Ive been sitting on this post for a bit, waiting to see what else turned up at my seated soccer field. But, ive made several return trips and this was the only significant find. An 1872 S Seated half (#40). I thought i was digging a dime, 26-28 on the nox, but it was just a deep intermittent squeak. I cut a decent sized plug and pulled three big square nails from various depths and rescanned the hole with the nox and got a nice 29-31 signal, but a few inches off to the side of my hole. I chose to bore sideways from my already open hole to reach the signal and on my third or fourth scoop, this thing fell to the bottom of my hole. This was the sixth seated from this site, all from the same general area. I havent been able to find anything but a few random Rosies since then. Which leads me to the second half of this post.

In the time I spent making trips to this site, and got diverted to other sites due to soccer practice and games, i managed to hit 53 silvers for the year. To make this post a brief, i took a group photo of 41-51 which include 6 mercs, 4 rosies, a GW, and my first IHP with a legible date, 1908, which surprisingly came from a park in the middle of downtown suburbia. The mercs and rosies were all dug at my usual local parks and schools. #52 was a Rosie dug at my seated field between soccer matches. #53 was another merc from a school field. The 925 heart locket was also a surface find at the seated soccer field on one of my many return trips.

Thanks for looking and HH!

That seated is in beautiful condition! Huge congrats on that and all the other finds. A suburban park Indian sounds nice to me! [emoji106][emoji3548]

WHAT ? Unbelievable, what a find, congrats. That half is in awesome condition. I would be happy with a seated anything. And attaboy on the other silvers as well as the Ihp. 13 silvers around here seems to be the going trend. lol. Good luck Mark

Thank you. The IHP came from a park in Sacramento, and while theres plenty of history, i wasnt expecting much so it was a nice surprise.

That seated 1/2 looks like it was just minted!

She is a beauty, and I will remember the day i found her for years to come.

Thanks markinswpa. And i always thought 13 was an unlucky number!

Wow wow that's awesome. Good finds

Thank you 2108silver.

That has been some very fine hunting Jeff. Congrats on another Seated along with all the rest. Very impressive! Trapper

Thanks Trapper! I noticed 13 was your lucky number too!

That’s incredible that Seated coins(and that half is a real eye opener) are coming from a SOCCER field. What was there before all this? Ive never seen a soccer field in this area give any silver coins whatsoever...they were just graded out fields or something. This caught my attention because a Seated half is very high on my list to find...and you have a whopper right there. Congrats and good pics with it!

Really good finds, but that half is exceptional...congrats!

Thanks, JAK!

Beautiful half. That gold coin must be hiding pretty good at that site

Thanks Toasted. If theres a gold coin hiding there, im gunna do my best to find it. I just have to wait til we get some rain as the ground is locked up due to our unseasonably warm weather.

IDX, i cant explain it either. All ive ever found here was mid century wheats, mercs, and rosies. Ive read that this field was once a homestead/farm, and was recently told it was the "Chinatown" during the gold rush. So, maybe both apply. The 6 seateds have all come from the same general vicinity and i suspect its where the fill dirt is the thinnest allowing me to reach the old dirt with the 15" coil on the nox.

Truly amazing work Jeff.

Can’t say I’m not a bit jelly!

Super congrats man!

I got a book for you next time we cross paths. Shows a little more history on that place and would go nicely with those finds. :)
