The last 2 weekends have been fun. I'd never found anything for anyone before, and now, the last 2 weekends, I found 2 items and made $90.

First, a lifeguard told me some people lost a necklace by the volleyball net. Turns out it had several gold and silver keepsakes on it. Within twenty minutes I found it for them. Not only were they ecstatic, and gave me $40, but they thought I was the greatest thing since sliced bread and insisted on hugs all around. This may have been the first time in my life that I had ever experienced unadulterated adulation, particularly, from more than one person.

Then this w/e a guy stopped me while I was hunting a street swale. He lost an 18k ring in the backyard of a house a few blocks away and wanted to know if I could find it with my machine. Yeah, maybe, I said; $25 if I don't find it, $50 if I do. He agreed. Half an hour later , I found it. Another very, very happy guy who was very pleased with me.

Here are the videos. The first one was candid, a chest mounted phone camera I forgot was on. The quality is not great, but being candid, it's funny. Coincidentally, the way the camera points, we don't see anyone's face.

i think it's an amethyst. i think an alexandrite changes color depending on viewing angle.

The color change is according to lighting type (sunlight, incandescent, flourescent), not viewing angle. This stone looks a bit too purple to be alexandrite in sunlight. I agree that it's probably amethyst.
