Marjorie Dandy, 75, finds rare coins in field near York

England has decent regulations.

I'm sure there are folks that will have exceptions to portions of the UK's detecting policies but....an informed detectorist community can have a major positive impact on what we learn about our past. The last two "big finds" had two responsible individuals finding them and it's unreal what "blanks" are going to be filled in by their actions.
These "dark ages" are where we know the least about ourselves and these folks helped turn some serious lights on! (A light was also turned on to our interest.)

My hat is off to how this has played out. Takes good old fashioned work to have policies crafted like this but....people like this to make it work. This win/win outcome needs to be fostered by us all. Neat stuff!!

First, I want to know what this "elderly" stuff is?! If she was elderly, the excitement would have caused her demise. It is nice to to know that there are young seniors out there exjoying this hobby as much as I do.

nw1886, you are 100% right in your post.

Happy New Year, gang,

Dave

She must be pretty tough to use that Minelab

This is the third hoard she's found  she must have some great land to
detect on.

One would be enough for be :(
