Waiting for my son to finish his Jujitsu class, today, I decided to go to a different spot not far from his dojo. I hit a low area, just up from a seasonal swamp, and found a nice assortment of goods.
There were a lot of signs of the old quarry works around, with a cable stay drilled into a rock, and large iron cable stretched across the area, and even a tree that grew up around the cable, lifting it about 8 feet off the ground.
The wire is fairly large gauge copper, so will scrap nicely. I found a cool lock of some sort that I'd love to know more about (in case anyone has any thoughts). Also a couple of buckles, one of which I think is pretty old, the other not so much. I picked up an old hurricane lantern top that rang up like a modern penny, and a very loud brass Revlon lipstick container in pristine (non-dented) condition! It was a fun little hunt filled with relics!
