The local officials in several coast towns down here are officially closed to anyone who does not live there to stop any outbreaks. First stories I saw of this was in the paper last week, tourists were denied entry to one town that you have to take a ferry to, cruise ships are not welcome for the next month, and over the past few days two more beach towns have gone the same route, no visitors allowed, only people who reside in that town. This is a very simple thing for them to do as many of these towns literally have one road in and out, so they just set up checkpoints and turn back people.
While this may be disappointing I do understand the reasoning behind it and I will stay home and try to give myself the Tecate virus instead...
HH to all those who can still get out and stay safe out there!

Thanks for the information!

I imagine those rules extend to other tourist areas of Mexico?

Sorry to hear ZZeee

I see the same here soon when the weather gets a little warmer. Fresh drop beach's will be closed for sure.......Most are state and county parks, which have boat ramps I use..if they close the park I am done. Hoping they close the beach only...

They are really cracking down, but so far hotels are still open but almost empty. It's going to be a big blow to folks who depend on tourism here, not just the hotel owners but the cooks, the cleaners, the drivers, the tour operators and travel agents will all be in for a rough month or two.

Yup, stinks all around! My thoughts are if I am not getting out no one else is getting out either. I guess I will keep busy watching all of your videos on youtube until then...

sit tight.. The rings will long out live all of us.... I know we have an addiction but enjoy the family or the garage tinkering for a few weeks...

I was out there last night even though there are barricades at every entrance. I went right around them. If they tell me to leave I'll go north or south to another beach.

I'm not going to let this virus ruin my solitary hobby.

All I water hunt is lonely streams near home sites, mills, or Civil War activity, and do quite well, never see a soul. Almost water season here so I'll be switching gears from land to water soon.

Yea it sucks all around now. We had mass tourism closures and a lot out of jobs. Thought I was going to get out to some empty beaches and detect unfettered but they closed beaches last Friday.:no: Rules are rules if they say no beach I'll go back to the honey-do-list :p

Local island beach has even put police at a checkpoint turning anyone who does not live on the island or are not met and escorted by some one who lives on the island Are told to turn around and leave.

The have told a hotel and a motel on the beach to close. Folks who have rental properties have been told to cease and desist.

Two other beaches have beach patrols sending people packing. So I sit home and wish.

They have now closed all of the beach's in Maryland, people will not follow orders. So now there closed totally. The past weekend OC MD had them open, boardwalk was crowded....The town council was pissed.........The topper, A couple came down to the beach from Howard county..(Near Baltimore) and were staying at a hotel. They did the boardwalk, a few other places and one of them got sick Saturday night while at the hotel. After being questions come to find out one knew they had symptoms of the viral flu before they came down. Now all they came near on the boardwalk,.... (since one was confirmed to hav Cov19)..., the hotel, where they ate, the police, paramedic's..etc... could get the virus. So the city council got word of this and closed all....to protect people.

Daughter send me this from Chicago, beach's and parks were crowded. Chicago has a stay at home order..
Shut it down Chicago..

there has been discussion of shutting down boat ramps even down here because of them going to sand bars and partying. Police boats have been breaking them up somewhat. Not all the spring breakers went home.... and some of the local are out of work. I keep watching the web cams and have seen 1 or 2 hunters ...... and a few more people walking that you would expect.

IMO ... we still dont believe its the real deal. Having had a family member with it i do. im old and limiting what i do. But its difficult since i like being outside on the run. This has to be a consolidate effort to work. So im paying attention.

More towns are closing themselves off down here and not even allowing in cars from other states to visit. My guess is they are going to tighten up more in the next few weeks. I'm beginning to think that I won't be able to get out until like june at least.
We are not under quarantine but people are being strongly encouraged to stay home, and everyone I know is staying home. The good news is that I am getting alot done around the house, keeping busy with small projects so far.

Yap, beaches closed AND guarded. So for 2 days I MDed a county park before a ranger kicked me out, but was nice about it. Third day I detected an empty lot the condo association owns...Trying to use my imagination, within the law, for areas to MD. I did read that police enforcement is very low (like 75% reduced) for low offending crimes, so it is prob "safe" to detect parks and any where else you can get away with in this trying time. I think a lot of cops/park rangers/security guards realize the limitations of our times and will give you a break as long as you're not digging big holes and leaving them as such. Just saying. But gotta MD

Well said , I am doing both .When occasionally getting the detecting withdrawals I'll mess around in the front or back yard doing discrimination testing with different targets or digging up rusty nails .
However annoying this staying in place can sometimes be , it is far better than exposing ones self and others to this dreaded disease .Hang tough and hunker down folks this may last a while longer than we think .Try to make the best of it .
If you've seen a good movie lately , share it here . I would recommend "limitless" .

Good series. Limitless.......Black Sails, Pirate stuff.. On Amazon Prime

I was able to detect a few times after the closures began mid-month since they weren't enforced right away. Now it's become impossible to go out during the day. The lifeguards are on watch and the beach patrols are constant.

I've been able to detect only twice over the last 10 days, at night, along some of the sleepier local beaches since there are no patrols after sunset. The targets are few and far between and it gets really boring.

It's too risky to try and detect the tourist beaches along the boardwalk, even at night, due to the patrols.

Now Trump has extended the distancing guidelines through April 30, so that pretty much ends my chances of finding a gold ring next month.

I can go detect a crappy stretch of local beach tonight, but I'll be lucky to find a few cents in clad.
