IMHO, nickels give you the best chance to get some with older dates. No design changes for many years so getting some older (pre-1960's) ones is always a good possibility.

I found several 1940's coins (all types) when I ran Pizza Hut stores in the early 2000's in Georgia. Make friends with your local PH managers and you're certain to get some!
