Found in woods in East Texas , only thing
that detector alerted to. Close to an old homestead.
It is magnetic , so not lead, irregularly shaped ,
not perfectly round. Has a sharp
point. 3/4 inch in diameter, 6 ounces.

Not Musket Ball

That is not a musket ball if a magnet sticks to it.
With that sprue, it appears to be cast and not blacksmith forged.
We have to remember that something that looks that old was probably sand cast.
I am guessing it is some kind of hardware off of mule/horse/oxen pulled farm machinery if not hardware from a old house.
Whatever it is, it is a cool find and part of east Texas history.
