Found this tonight at a playground I've hit up many times now! Probably a pinky or toe ring. Also found $1.73 in change! I am just praying it is real! Stamped 950 on the inside... can definitely tell it is not plated... also, can tell it's been worn a lot... the "0" is a tad worn down... What do you think? Will definitely get it tested!

ALSO... It rang up on the SILVER end of the detector if that helps...

Weigh it, platinum is very heavy, heavier than gold. And gold is REAL heavy. Do you have a scale?

Random fact: All the platinum mined over the course of history would fit into a 25 foot cube.

Going with silver, too. I've never found Pt, but my understanding is that it would be way lower on the scale. Sorry, just my 2 cents.

Well shucks... did not know there were 950 silver rings... and the more I look at it, it does look like silver... does not feel extremely heavy... have 0.01g balance at work and will check it out tomorrow though... even if it is silver, I feel it is still a good find... Thanks for the input all!

Heck ya it's still a cool find!!! Silver is nothing to scoff at...

I don't know Steve... it just doesn't look like a platinum ring, though. It looks like silver. :?: A nice ring though. I don't know what 950 signifies.

Only one way to be sure... I'll get it tested... and Steve, I am only familiar with 925 silver stamps but I've seen some evidence now that 950 silver stamps exist too but they are rare... so do I have a rare silver piece if it's 950 silver? lol

Found on the net...

950 Silver
Silver of 95 percent purity is relatively rare because it is a nonstandard alloy. Technically it is not fine silver because it falls considerably below 99.9 percent fineness. This means it is sterling silver, but more pure than most sterling silver. 950 silver will be softer than most sterling silver and will tarnish more easily. This means it is unlikely to be used in most industrial applications. Most 950 silver is used for jewelry.
