I've found a few of these buttons at a WW2 site and looking for a ID. I think they are replacement buttons but not sure.

I believe they are the Navy version of tack buttons used on HBT (herringbone twill) utility clothes. But my impression was that this pattern was just barely post war and ito the early 1950's. There are also ones with one or three stars instead of five, and I could be wrong but I think they were the earlier design.
-a lot of the above could use a second opinion, but hopefully is a helpful starting point.
