Hit a Union campsite near some homes. Pulled bayonet tip and a .58 three ringer…and this thing. I don’t think it’s from the 1800’s, but does anyone have any ideas what it could be?

Thanks!

I know I'm probably wrong, but if those are springs on the ends, it kinda reminds me of one of those storm door/screen door thingys with the little chain on it to keep the door from flying open too far. I don't know when they were first invented or if they were ever made out of steel or iron.

It doesn't really look like other antique storm door springs.
But good guess.
I was thinking about a civil war era mousetrap...or a barrette.
Someone's gonna get this.

No problem glad I could ID it for you. I knew it as soon as I saw it because I’ve done a lot of concrete forms and I’ve used them before
