I loved reading the silver thimble thread -- http://metaldetectingforum.com/showthread.php?t=245885

Has anyone found any cool silver spoons? The thimble thread reminded me of this spoon I found at the same site as one of the thimbles.

This spoon is engraved with "Regina 07". The elderly owner of the property where I found the spoon told me she knew Regina, who was born in 1907. She would have been about 25 years older.

It is cool when there is a connection behind a find, and I rarely find stuff this cool. One of my favorite finds. Regina would have been 105 years old when I found this, and I offered it up, but of course she was deceased.

That is really a neat find! And a good thread starter, too.

I found this silver plated spoon at a 1908 house permission I detected at last year. :cool3: Markings are "U.S. SILVER CO." which, if I recall correctly, is made by Oneida. This spoon is from around the early 1900's.

I've found a few over the years, and my oldest U.S. silver is actually in the form of a spoon. Great thread idea!

Nice job on your silver spoon. I found this spoon bowl in a farm field.

I found this handle last Sunday at an old house site. Marked sterling, Lunt is the maker. The pattern is "Summer Song" in production 1954-1997. Is 4" long, total weight 15.8 grams, sterling weight 14.3 grams.MVC-023S.JPG

Found this top of a silver eating utensil, I have no idea where the rest of it is.
Years ago I found something like it but smaller.
Somebody stamped it 925 and made a ring out of it, pretty smart way to repurpose old silverware, I think.

The spoon is marked sterling, it is not a baby spoon but still small so I think it is a toddlers spoon and it has a cat image eating on it and the words "Kitty cat at breakfast".
Found in an area where I dug up other pre 1910 items.
Very cool, one of my most unique treasures.

Not pretty..but they count

Dug these in a drained pond a few yrs back...they rebuilt the dam and lost that gold mine!! Both these spoons were from the same set , if you look close you can see the same engraving design on them..i looked up the maker..PITTMAN..he was in providence, active silversmith from 1755 til he died in 1804...funny thing is , i found the 1st one weeks before the second , i didnt realize it was silver so i threw it in the woods near my yard, and after digging the second one and seen it was silver..i had to find the 1st one again near my yard cuz i didnt remember where i threw it!! Lololol

Silver Spoon from Maine

Found this lightweight, delicate beauty nearby an old cellar hole on the island on which I live in Maine.

Amos Sanborn was a silversmith who worked circa 1848-1866 in Lowell MA.

Brought it to a local silversmith with the thought of possibly having it restored. Wisely, he recommended I leave it as it was found, authentically showing its character and age.
