Lightning Rod??

Found this brass stake with a threaded fitting on top of it while hunting the front yard of a 1920's house. It is a little over 9" long and the inside diameter of the threaded fitting is approximately 5/8". My hunting buddy can usually id most things we find, but neither of us have ever seen anything like this before. He did say that it could possibly be the top part of a lightning rod??

Lightning rod tip would be my guess (just a guess though). Cool find.

Yes, a lightning rod tip. Late 1800's or early 1900's.

Cool find, yep, Lightning Rod tip, would screw into the main rod at the top.

The ones I have seen on roofs have a 1 inch wide thin copper woven wire running from the rod to the ground.
