What kind of tag is this?

Found with my brand new AT Max. Found in Kansas if that helps. I can't find anything about it except maybe it's a key fob? Any help would be very appreciated!

Neat find! Individually numbered and a pretty high number. I can't imagine they would individually number key fobs.

Great find! I wonder since looks fancy if more of a hotel key fob, seems to fancy for a tool tag.....some one will know. The number seems too high though for a hotel key?

I think it is a charge account medallion used in the early 1900's by department stores.

I found some association of a Mrs TJ Smith (hence the initials TJS), to the old Historic Elgin Hotel in Marion KS. This is not far from you.
