Thought I lost the digging tool but found it before I went magnet fishing. It fell out of the holder and I had to backtrack three times to find it. Went to another local park and found this ring, id on fisher f5 as a 62 in the zinc category. I thought it might be silver but not sure. Also, found the 1943 war nickel but that came up as a regular nickel number. I thought they had silver? Any help with ring is appreciated.

RGP= rolled gold plating

The nickel is interesting because it looks like a dug silver war nickel, but doesn't have the big mint mark over the building on the reverse..

That's a 1948 nickel not a war nickel. The 3 on a 1943 is much more open. Nice condition for a dug 48. Might not have been in the ground long.

Most war nickels do ring up the same or very slightly higher than regular nickels. Dig enough nickel signals on mid century properties and they're a nice surprise. There's a small percentage that ring up much higher. I've dug over a dozen war nickels and two rang up in the copper penny range. In the ground and air test.

Is that ring worth anything? Thanks for all the responses. Let me look again at the nickel, I guess I wanted it to be a 1943 but I looked at it and it's a 1948. I looked yesterday and under the lighted magnifier I swore it was a 43. However, like you stated, no mint mark on the back. I found in the park I pounded years ago when I first started.

I went online looking for this exact ring. They call it a Ace of Spades Jack ring or maybe a few different titles. I placed a magnet next to it and it didn't stick. I am soaking it right now, would like to clean up and get rid of. I'll send a picture with weight, later on. Thanks
