Heart o' silver

Found this near a 100 year old pecan tree in the front yard of a early 1900's railroad section house. I doubt the heart is that old, but it looks old anyway :lol: There's a name inscribed on the back that reads "Carlyn" I believe. It's kind of hard to read.

That is a nice find OD, my favorite place to hunt was around old trees... that is when I was a dirt digger ;)

I believe, in stead of Carling, it says Sterling. Nice little heart.

Yes, I can read "Sterling" just fine ;) The inscription is just to the left of that :lol: My eyes are old, but not that old.
 
Does anyone know when they started stamping STERLING on silver jewelry?

OD I used to know... But I am having a brainfart right now lol... I'm sorry but its old either late 1700's or 1800's oh well sue me ;)
