I found this 1917 merc in the park on Christmas eve morning hunt with the guys.
The rim is completely slick, and I do not recall ever finding one like this before.

Does seem a little odd that the front detail is so strong and there is no reeding on the edge. Congrats on the save. Happy New Year, Mark

That is an odd one.
I dug this Barber dime that was worn slick, and only had a few light traces of the reeded edge left...
