this one is much smaller than a .22 . From a toy gun perhaps?

Maybe a .177 cal? Today it's used primarily by air rifles, but there is a .17 cal firearm.
 
it was so small I had a hard time finding it in the dirt.Even with the pinpointer ! :roll:
 
I believe what you found is a 4mm Flaubert round. They were first built sometime in the mid 1800s and were used in pistols that they called parlor or salon guns can't remember exactly I've seen a couple for sale over the years I may be wrong but pretty sure that's what you found.
